Bio

I was born and raised in Durham, North Carolina, the son of a Religion/Literature Professor and a Presbyterian Minister. I began studying the cello at age 6. I studied Modern Music Composition & Performance at the N.C. Governor's School, and received a BA in History and Film from Duke University. The success of my poem/documentary, "The Imperial's ISM" (written and performed by Thomasi MacDonald) gave me a graduate teaching position in Super 8 & Animation at SUNY Buffalo, where I received my MA in Media Study & Music in 1996, having studied with violinist/composer/filmaker Tony Conrad. Now I live in the Bay Area.
